The Key Biscayne Community Center is loading up a bus Friday, Sept. 18, and taking island teens to Dezerland Action Park Miami for go-karts and arcade games. Registration closes Thursday, Sept. 17.

The trip, organized by youth program coordinator and camp director David Plotkin, is open to kids ages 11 to 18, the Islander News reported. Only 20 spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The cost is $20 per person. The KBCC announcement did not specify whether the fee covers rides and arcade credits or only transportation and admission.

The group leaves the Community Center at 7 p.m. and is expected back around 10:30 p.m. Parents should plan for a roughly three-and-a-half-hour evening away from the island.

Dezerland Action Park, in North Miami Beach, describes itself as South Florida's largest indoor attraction. The venue features go-karts, arcades and skating rinks spread across more than 250,000 square feet.

Plotkin also organized the Community Center's youth air hockey tournament on Sept. 11. He coordinates youth programming for the Village of Key Biscayne and can answer questions about the trip.
