Coconut Grove's Business Improvement District is turning National Brunch Day into a neighborhood-wide event on Sunday, Sept. 20, pairing restaurant deals with retail promotions, cocktails and live music on McFarlane Road.
The event, called "Brunching in the Grove," expands on a concept the BID launched in September 2025. That inaugural "Grove Brunch Club" drew 12 participating businesses, distributed 4,000 branded glasses and generated 3 million media impressions, according to the BID's FY24-25 marketing report. The City of Miami also proclaimed Coconut Grove "The Brunch Capital of Miami" that same month.
This year's version goes bigger.
For two weeks before Sept. 20, participating retailers will run promotions on fashion and accessories. On the day itself, restaurants across the district will offer brunch menus, including Miami Spice options. Even Grove restaurants that don't typically serve brunch plan to offer special cocktails for the day, Coconut Grove Magazine reported.
Live music is planned along McFarlane Road near Santander.
"You can find something to wear, meet friends for an incredible meal, hear music, grab a drink, wander into a shop and suddenly you've spent the whole day in the Grove," Mark Burns, executive director of the Coconut Grove BID, said in a statement published Friday, Sept. 11.
Burns said the BID built the event around connecting restaurants with retailers and the Grove's walkable streets so visitors stay beyond a single meal.
The BID's marketing report flagged an "extended Brunch Club rollout" as a growth priority for fiscal year 2025-2026. Twenty-six Coconut Grove restaurants are already participating in Miami Spice 2026, which runs through September and marks the program's 25th anniversary. That overlap gives diners two programs to explore on the same day.
The BID has not released a list of participating restaurants or retailers for the Sept. 20 event. Hours have not been announced. Residents can follow @coconutgrovemiami on Instagram for updates.
