Miami-Dade Fire Rescue airlifted a snorkeler in critical condition from No Name Harbor on Sunday, Sept. 13, after someone found him unresponsive in the water at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park.

The man was snorkeling near the harbor around 11 a.m. when he was discovered, WPLG Local 10 reported. Fire Rescue crews flew him by helicopter to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he remained in critical condition as of Sunday, Sept. 13.

Authorities described the incident as a possible drowning. No name, age or hometown has been released. An investigation into the circumstances is ongoing, though no agency has publicly said which department is leading it.

No Name Harbor sits on the Biscayne Bay side of Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, at the southern tip of Key Biscayne. The popular anchorage draws boaters, kayakers and paddleboarders, and the park allows overnight boat camping for $20 per boat per night, according to the Key Biscayne Chamber of Commerce.

The park, at 1200 S. Crandon Blvd., has no lifeguards on duty. All swimming and water activities are at visitors' own risk. According to Florida State Parks, the park is open 8 a.m. to sunset daily and is extremely busy on weekends and holidays, often closing once it reaches capacity.
