A chef with Michelin-starred credentials from across Europe has brought his take on Greek shared plates to Coconut Grove. Manoli Greek, from Greek-born chef Emmanouil "Manoli" Aslanoglou, opened Wednesday, July 22, at 3540 Main Highway. The opening was confirmed by Coconut Grove Magazine on Thursday, July 23.

Aslanoglou's résumé reads like a tour of Europe's top kitchens: Michelin-starred Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in the U.K., Arzak in Spain, the historic Vassilenas in Athens and Nammos in Southampton. He also appeared on MasterChef Greece.

"Manoli is deeply personal to me," Aslanoglou told Coconut Grove Magazine. "It reflects how I grew up eating in Greece — food made with care and meant to be shared."

The menu centers on communal dining. Traditional dishes include Dolmades, Saganaki and Keftedes, while a modern section features Gyro Tacos made with Black Angus ribeye. A raw bar lists fresh oysters, Bigeye Tuna Tartare and Beef Tartare. Heavier plates run from Avgolemono Soup and housemade Pastitsio to grilled lamb chops and whole Branzino.

A dessert trolley rolls tableside carrying housemade Baklava, Profiteroles, Crispy Cream Custard and warm Greek donuts.

The dining room features white tones, light woods, sculpted wall niches and soft blue accents. The restaurant describes the space as evoking the Greek islands.

On the drink side, Greek Beverage Manager Fotis Mexi runs a cocktail program called Sober Souls Diaries. Mexi drew inspiration from Greek tragedians Sophocles, Aeschylus and Euripides to name the cocktails: Hybris blends vodka, citrus, cardamom, saffron-lavender foam and kumquat jelly; Eris is gin-based with Greek herbs; Mira features Mastiha and basil-peach flavors. The wine list spotlights Greek producers, and mocktails round out the drink menu.

Manoli Greek is at 3540 Main Highway in Coconut Grove.
