Pianist Clayton Stephenson, the first Black finalist at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, performs Thursday, August 6, at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Community Arts Program's 41st Summer Concert Series. The concert takes place at Coral Gables Congregational United Church of Christ, 3010 De Soto Blvd., Coral Gables. Tickets run $35–$50, with an extra $5 at the door. Free parking is available.

Stephenson grew up in New York City, where he practiced on a street-found upright piano for six years before receiving an instrument from the Lang Lang Foundation at age 17. He holds a dual degree from Harvard and the New England Conservatory and has since earned the 2024 Avery Fisher Career Grant and the inaugural Nina Simone Piano Competition title.

"The Lang Lang Foundation brought me to stages worldwide and transformed me from a piano student to a young artist," Stephenson has said on his official website.

The concert caps a full week of programming on Key Biscayne and nearby, with back-to-school season starting Thursday, August 13, for Miami-Dade County Public Schools students.
