Forty-nine Key Biscayne nonprofits will compete for donations during this year's Give Miami Day on Nov. 19, with early giving opening five days sooner on Nov. 14.

The Key Biscayne Community Foundation (KBCF) is coordinating the island's participation in the 15th annual countywide fundraiser, the Islander News reported. The 24-hour online giving event, hosted by The Miami Foundation, supports more than 1,000 nonprofits across Miami-Dade County.

Melissa White, executive director of the Key Biscayne Community Foundation, said the event channels individual generosity into broader results.

"It's our moment to take the generosity Key Biscayne is known for and extend it far beyond the island," White said. "Every gift, big or small, fuels the programs our neighbors rely on and strengthens the county where we live."

What's on the list

The 49 participating organizations span several giving categories, according to the Islander News. Those include Arts, Culture & Heritage; Community & Civic Life; Environmental & Animal Welfare; Scholarship & Academic Advancement; and Youth & Education. The KBCF's Give Miami Day page also lists a Veterans & First Responders category.

Among the island groups taking part: Friends of Cape Florida, which supports Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park; the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center; It Takes a Village KB, which promotes inclusion and job opportunities for people with special needs; the Key Biscayne Community Garden; and the Key Biscayne Historical & Heritage Society.

Last year's numbers

KBCF-championed organizations raised nearly $1 million in total community impact through Give Miami Day last year, the Islander News reported. Across Miami-Dade, the event delivered $43.8 million to nonprofits countywide.

Wisevoter reported that last year's campaign drew more than 60,000 donors who made over 120,000 individual gifts. The minimum donation is $25.
