Students at Key Biscayne K-8 Center, MAST Academy on Virginia Key, and George Washington Carver Middle School head into the 2026-27 school year as part of a district that earned its seventh consecutive A rating from the Florida Department of Education, announced July 1.
The state released spring 2026 FAST and B.E.S.T. assessment results June 26, covering reading, math, writing, science and social studies. Districtwide, 65% of M-DCPS students in grades 3-10 scored at or above grade level in ELA reading, up from 52% in 2023. In math for grades 3-8, 66% hit that mark, up from 55% three years ago.
Those gains beat the statewide average by 2 to 5 percentage points in reading and 4 to 7 points in math, the district reported.
The A rating factors in student performance on state assessments, graduation rates and success in accelerated coursework. M-DCPS also exceeded the statewide graduation rate for the fourth straight year, topping 95%, and posted the highest Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion rate in Florida at 59.8%, according to the Florida College Access Network.
The district's four-year scorecard, shared by School Board Chair Mari Tere Rojas on July 2, shows science scores climbing 9 to 11 percentage points since 2023, civics rising 10 points and U.S. history jumping 11.
Individual School Grades Not Yet Released for Key Biscayne, MAST and Carver
Individual school grades for Key Biscayne K-8, MAST Academy and Carver Middle have not been published. The FLDOE releases school-level data separately from district results. Families can check the state's Know Your Schools portal at edudata.fldoe.org once those numbers post.
School Board Primary and Individual FAST Scores Coming for Parents
Contested Miami-Dade school board seats will appear on the Aug. 18 primary ballot. Families should check the Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections website for registration deadlines.
Parents with questions about their child's individual FAST scores can contact their school's testing coordinator once results are distributed to families.
