Ransom Everglades improved to 4-0 after beating Somerset Pembroke Pines 39-14 on Thursday, Sept. 17, in Broward County.

Sophomore quarterback Alfonso Llanes completed 14 of 18 passes for 246 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Raiders. Junior wide receiver Colton Smith caught six passes for 138 yards and returned a punt 74 yards for a touchdown. Junior running back Noah Alce carried 10 times for 92 yards and a score while chipping in two receptions for 14 yards.

The Raiders spread the ball around. Tyler Grossfeld caught two passes for 41 yards and a touchdown. F. McCarron added three receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown. S. Geller rushed three times for 14 yards and a score. Kicker Alec Martinez-Bolivar connected on a field goal and two extra points.

On defense, senior linebacker Hunter White recorded 14 tackles and two interceptions. F. McCarron added seven tackles, and Grossfeld had six. D. McCarron picked off a pass of his own. B. Rodriguez and L. Elfenbein each posted eight tackles.

Coach Joe Supple's squad has outscored opponents 96-42 through four games, according to MaxPreps. The Raiders opened with a 13-7 win over Somerset Academy Silver Palms on Aug. 21, beat district rival Gulliver Prep 20-7 on Aug. 28 and topped Doral Academy 24-14 on Sept. 4 before the Somerset Pembroke Pines victory.

The Miami Herald projected Ransom Everglades third in District 2A-9 behind Immaculata-La Salle and Gulliver Prep heading into the season. Smith, who earned first-team all-Miami-Dade County honors last year, and Llanes have helped the Raiders to a 4-0 start despite that projection.

Ransom Everglades is 1-0 in District 2A-9 play.

The Raiders travel to Immaculata-La Salle on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. for a District 2A-9 game. The Royal Lions are also 4-0.

Boys golf: Raiders fall by three strokes at Crandon

In boys golf, Palmer Trinity edged Ransom Everglades 164-167 at Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne, according to the Miami Herald's high school roundup. Team par was 140 with an individual par of 35. William Earle led the Raiders with a 38, finishing second behind medalist Joseph Dieppa of Palmer Trinity, who shot 37. Sandro Salvat carded a 41 for Ransom Everglades, while Sebastian Whitehead and Vinay Rajadhyaksha each shot 44.
