Ransom Everglades pushed its football season to a perfect 4-0 with a win Thursday, Sept. 17, powered by a 213-yard passing game from sophomore quarterback Alfonzo Llanes.
Llanes completed 13 of 22 passes with two touchdowns, according to the school's game recap. The Coconut Grove school did not publish a final score.
Llanes, Smith spark the offense
Junior receiver and cornerback Colton Smith delivered the game's biggest highlight, hauling in five catches for 110 yards and breaking open a 70-yard punt return for a touchdown.
On the ground, junior running back Noah Alce carried 10 times for 72 yards and a score. He added three receptions for 26 yards and showed up on defense with seven tackles, including two for a loss.
Senior Tyler Grossfeld caught two passes for 31 yards and a touchdown. Junior Finn McCarron and senior Spencer Geller each reached the end zone for the first time this season, giving the Raiders five different players who scored.
White's defense keeps pace
Senior linebacker Hunter White turned in a career-best two interceptions along with another double-digit tackle game. White has been a force all season: In the Raiders' Week 3 win over Doral Academy, he recorded 14 tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack.
Llanes has been steady through four games. He completed 12 of 18 passes for 142 yards in a Week 2 win over Gulliver Prep and went 12 of 13 for 152 yards and a touchdown against Doral Academy.
Unbeaten Raiders face La Salle next
The 4-0 start sets up a marquee road matchup. The Raiders travel Friday, Sept. 25, to face Immaculata-La Salle, which also enters at 4-0. La Salle is ranked No. 8 in Class 2A by FloridaHSFootball.com's Power 10 rankings.
Kickoff time for the unbeaten-versus-unbeaten showdown has not been announced.
